Success Factors:
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Tower Technician I training must be completed or tested out of prior to being promoted to this position. Below are the tasks/items a Tower Technician II will be exposed to daily and will be the prerequisites for progression to a Tower Technician III position.
  • OSHA 10
  • Ability to climb up to 500+ft
  • Layout and install an Ice Bridge
  • Build a tower platform on the tower
  • Build a tower platform on the ground
  • Properly install tower booms on any type of tower
  • Wire a Raycap properly
  • Properly route and secure jumpers and Hybrid jumpers
  • Fabricate steel in the field and on the tower
  • Install and secure SO cord as required
  • Knowledge and ability to troubleshoot fiber, power and RF issues
  • Install a Microwave dish that is 4 foot in diameter or bigger
  • Install Flash Technology lighting controller
  • Safely and properly use Cad Welds
  • Path a Microwave Dish
  • Exposure to ground rigging
  • Exposure to Cathead
  • How to operate PIM tester and a Fiber Tester
  • Ability to understand Construction Drawing, Structural Analysis, RFDS, Plumbing Diagrams and understanding Configurations
  • Properly take Pre-Construction and Closeout photos
  • Rig a tower in a rigging scenario
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Able to pass Mercury Tower Technician II written certification test
Work Environment:
  • Must be able to work in a variety of physical positions, including climbing, sitting, standing, walking, hands over head and reach out.
  • May be exposed to uncomfortable or distracting sounds or noise levels on sites of projects being managed or coordinated
  • May be exposed to common allergens on a regular basis including, but not limited to; grass, trees, hay, straw, etc.
Experience and Education:
  • Minimum 1-2 years experience in the position/career field associated with a Tower Technician II.
